Lynyrd Skynyrd Announce Farewell Tour Of North America
Lynyrd Skynyrd have announced that their farewell tour will take place later this year. The Southern rock legends play an extensive series of dates on The Last Of The Street Survivors Farewell Tour across North America, where they’ll be joined on the road by various artists including Bad Company, Blackberry Smoke, Kid Rock, Hank Williams Jr, the Charlie Daniels Band, the Marshall Tucker Band. 38 Special and Blackfoot.
Guitarist Gary Rossington said: “It’s hard to imagine, after all these years, the band that Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins and myself started back in Jacksonville, would resonate for this long and to so many generations of fans.
“I’m certain they are looking down from above, amazed that the music has touched so many.”
Vocalist Johnny Van Zant adds: “We’ve been blessed by these great songs and the messages they carry to the fans. It’s been a true honour to try and fill in my brother’s footsteps for the past 31 years, keeping the music and his spirit, alive.”
Tickets will be available through the the band’s official website from 10am local time on 2 February. Passes for their show at Mansfield’s Xfinity Centre will go on sale at 11am that same day, while tickets for the Detroit performance will be available from 10am on 3 February.

I waited nearly 40 years to see you guys .You finally came to Australia 2014 and I got to see you guys perform .My favourite all time band .I even started to learn to play your songs (not real good ) but I try . Please come back to Australia and give your fans here a chance to say farewell . We love you just as much as your home country people . Please one last show in Australia .I have shed a tear thinking about you calling it quits and I am 63 years old . I know everything comes to an end but have a look at the Rolling Stones .They are still rockin & rollin and they are in the mid 70’s .You guys could go on as well . Please one last concert in Australia . From an Aussie fan . Love you guys .

You guys have broken a lot of fans hearts by your announcement of saying Farewell . The best songs ever written and sang are Sweet Home Alabama , Tuesday’s gone , Simple Man , Free Bird and many many more from Lynyrd Skynryd .But those 4 are my favourites . What the annoying thing is the American fans get to see you guys all the time and you are doing a farewell tour for them only . Give it some thought guys and make it a world tour and please come back to Australia . We would love to say farewell also . You are a band of the world and have millions of fans world wide .So please think about us and come and let us say farewell and thanks for the greatest music ever . You are the only band in the world that has never forgotten your past members who have died . You always let the fans know how you got to where you are because of past members . It would be one hell of a concert if every person who has ever played in Skynyrd could all be on the one stage together . Man that would be something else . The greatest band ever to grace the planet . Johnny has been a credit to his brother as Ronnie’s replacement and I am sure he would be proud of his baby brother for keeping this awesome band going . The music will live for ever .
