Both artists will be supporting new albums. Williams’ Good Souls Better Angels was released on 24 April to rave reviews. American Songwriter praised that her 15th studio album is “Arguably her most intense…This is a devastatingly in your face, take no prisoners presentation from Williams and her band that will leave most serious listeners shattered and perhaps shaking. Few albums connect with this much pure emotional fury, let alone those from artists well into their 60s.” Isbell, meanwhile, released his seventh studio LP, Reunions, in May.
Throughout the past months, Williams has been an active participant in a variety of live-streamed events and benefits, including Willie Nelson’s “‘Til Further Notice” in March (the virtual edition of this year’s Luck Reunion festival), and MusiCares’ “Sessions” series in May, which benefitted COVID-19 relief. Isbell has also been actively connecting with his fans throughout quarantine. Fans can catch him tomorrow night during an all-star live-stream tribute to the late singer-songwriter, John Prine.
