Lorde, The Rolling Stones, Paul Weller, Jay-Z Nominated For 2017 Q Awards
UK music magazine Q has announced details of their annual 2017 Q Awards. Big names such as Lorde, The Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, The Killers, Paul Weller, Queens Of The Stone Age, Radiohead and Liam Gallagher are all among the nominees.
Among the leading nominees this year is Lorde, who is in contention for no less than four awards. Her song ‘Green Light’ is in the running for the Best Track award, while the New Zealand-born singer-songwriter is also hotly-tipped in the Best Live Act, Best Solo Artist and Best Act In The World Today categories.
Joining Lorde among the nominees in the Best Act In The World Today category are Queens Of The Stone Age, The Killers, Kendrick Lamar and Depeche Mode. Other acts in contention in the Best Live Act category, meanwhile, are Radiohead, The Killers and PJ Harvey.
Also a category containing numerous strong contenders, the shortlist for Best Album includes Paul Weller’s A Kind Revolution; Laura Marling’s Semper Femina; A Tribe Called Quest’s We Got It From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service and Jay-Z’s much-acclaimed 4:44.
Paul Weller, Lorde and Jay-Z are also in contention in the Best Solo Artist category, in the running with Ed Sheeran, Liam Gallagher, Lana Del Ray and others. Gallagher and Sheeran have also been nominated in the Best Track category, alongside The Killers, whose ‘The Man’ is in the running.
The Best Film category, meanwhile, features nominees including Eagles Of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends); The Rolling Stones’ Havana Moon; Sleaford Mods’ Bunch Of Kunst and Iggy Pop & Josh Homme’s American Valhalla.
This year’s event, the 27th Q Awards will take place at The Roundhouse, in London’s Camden on 17 October. In addition, a special and intimate post-awards gig starring Manic Street Preachers and Sleaford Mods has also been scheduled.
