Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter VI has an official release date.
The sixth installment in the Louisiana rapper’s long-running mixtape series is set to arrive on June 6th, 2025. At present, little more is known about the record.
The first Carter record dropped in 2004, followed by 2005’s Tha Carter II; 2008’s Tha Carter III; and 2011’s Tha Carter IV. Tha Carter V was originally set to release in 2014 but faced a series of delays, finally arriving in 2018.
Since Tha Carter V, Wayne hasn’t remained quiet, releasing multiple records including No Ceilings 3, Funeral, Trust Fund Babies, Tha Fix Before tha VI, and Welcome 2 Collegrove with 2 Chainz. Last year, he released a song with Youth Thug, “Bless,” set to be part of a joint Weezy Vs. Wheezy mixtape that has yet to receive a release date. He performed the track live for the first time at WrestleManiaXL.
Wayne has also headlined shows like the 2024 Roots Picnic—where he performed with The Roots, PJ Morton and Trombone Shorty— and the 2023 MTV VMAs. When Kendrick Lamar was announced as the Super Bowl LIX halftime show performer late last year, Lil Wayne expressed disappointment at not being selected to play the major New Orleans event. “I thought there was nothing better than that spot, on that stage, on that platform,” he shared in an Instagram video. “It broke me, but I’m just trying to put myself back together.” He’s since starred in a new Cetaphil commercial poking fun at the situation.
