Liam Payne Announces Forthcoming Single ‘Sunshine’ From Disney’s ‘Ron’s Gone Wrong’
The track arrives on August 27.
Liam Payne has announced that his forthcoming single “Sunshine” will be released on August 27. The track will be featured in the upcoming Disney film Ron’s Gone Wrong, opening in theaters this fall.
“I am such a big fan of Disney, so to be working on this is a dream come true,” Payne shared in a statement. “I can’t wait for you all to hear Sunshine and to see “Ron’s Gone Wrong.” It has been a lot of fun!”
Payne teased an upcoming music video for “Sunshine” on Twitter where he uploaded a photo of himself lounging in the grass captioned with sunshine and film emojis.
In addition to being featured on the film’s soundtrack with “Sunshine,” Payne will make a vocal appearance in the movie itself as he voices a character in the film. The former One Direction member joins a star-studded cast which also features Zach Galifianakis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Olivia Colman, Ed Helms, Justice Smith, Rob Delaney, Kylie Cantrall, Ricardo Hurtado, Marcus Scribner, and Thomas Barbusca.
Ron’s Gone Wrong follows the story of a socially awkward schoolboy named Barney and Ron, a walking and talking digital device designed to be its owner’s best friend with the occasional malfunction.
“Sunshine” marks Payne’s first release of the year and his latest single since he teamed up with TikTok star Dixie D’Amelio in December for the holiday single “Naughty List.” In 2020, he also appeared on the Alesso single “Midnight” which received remixes from Vicetone, Jack Wins, Rompasso, and more.
In 2019, Payne released his debut solo album LP1 via Capitol Records which featured the hit singles “Strip That Down” with Quavo, “For You” with Rita Ora, and “Familiar” with J Balvin. Since launching his solo career post-One Direction, the singer has racked up over 5 billion streams across platforms.
