Lewis Capaldi has announced that he will headline this year’s Kew The Music festival. The ‘Someone You Loved’ singer tops the bill at the London event on 10 July. Nina Nesbitt and Dusky Grey are the support acts.
Kew The Music, which is held at The Royal Botanic Gardens in London sees Beverley Knight and Billy Ocean perform on 9 July; Jools Holland And His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra on 11 July; Craig David on 12 July; Garbage on 13 July and Rick Astley on July 14. For tickets and further information, please visit the event’s official website.
Capaldi will replace Jess Glynn who had to withdraw from the event due to vocal health issues. The fast-rising Scottish singer released his debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent earlier this year following chart topping single ‘Someone You Loved’ and top five hit ‘Hold Me While You Wait’.
Lewis Capaldi made his debut at the 2019 Glastonbury Festival over the weekend, performing an unscheduled slot on the BBC Introducing Stage on Friday (28 June) and then a widely-acclaimed headliner on The Other Stage on the Saturday.
As uDiscover Music previously reported, Bastille also welcomed Capaldi on stage as a surprise guest during their Pyramid Stage slot at Glastonbury last Friday. The Doom Days four-piece brought the Scottish singer/songwriter on during a rendition of their upbeat recent single ‘Joy’, eliciting huge cheers from the festival crowd.
Addressing the audience, Bastille frontman Dan Smith spoke about their connection with Capaldi.
“We did a tour earlier this year and Lewis came out with us, and we had the best time with him,” Smith said, before adding: “He’s as funny in real life as he is on Instagram. While we were on tour, his song went to number one and it stayed there for about nine years. Thank you for joining us, mate.”
