Country Favorites Lauren Alaina And Jon Pardi Share ‘Getting Over Him’ Video

Country stars Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi have released a video for their current duet “Getting Over Him.” The clip is directed by the brother and sister team of Alexa and Stephen Kinigopoulos.
The promo has the two artists playing Bonnie and Clyde-style roles involving an ill-fated crime and a brief romance. Writing about it on social media, Alaina says: “Arrest assured, y’all. The ‘Getting Over Him’ music video is officially out. If I told you Bonnie wasn’t the one that got away, Clyde be lying to you. Who’s the bandit now? ;)”
“Getting Over Him” was written by Alaina with Emily Weisband and Paul DiGiovanni, and is the title song from Lauren’s six-track EP, released last September. Weisband also wrote her 2019 single and Top 30 country airplay hit “Getting Good,” while DiGiovanni is also the producer of the EP.
The song was described by American Songwriter as “a sizzling slice of defiant fun,” while Billboard called it a “deliciously good, sultry duet.” It’s been a feature of Billboard’s Country Airplay charts in recent weeks, currently standing at No.48.
Alaina co-wrote the track after coming out of two consecutive relationships, the first to fiancé Alex Hopkins, and the second to comedian John Crist. “I realized I had never just been out and flirted. I didn’t know how to be single,” she said on the release of “Getting Over Him.” “A lot of times when I write a song, it’s a very specific, about a certain person, and this one’s just not. I just needed this song to represent the season of me learning to be single.
“I was like, ‘I need to get out and have a good time,’ which I didn’t really know how to do because I’ve been in the public eye since I was 16,” she went on. “But I had one little season when I got home from [appearing on] Dancing with the Stars where I would hang out and be flirty. I’ve still never kissed a boy in a bar. But the idea of it, I wrote this song about it.”
