Lauren Alaina And Jon Pardi Join Forces Again For ‘Getting Over Him’
It’s the title song from Alaina’s forthcoming six-track EP, which follows on September 4.
Lauren Alaina has today (21) released “Getting Over Him,” her new duet with fellow modern country notable Jon Pardi. It’s the title song from Alaina’s forthcoming six-track EP, which follows the Getting Good extended play, released in March. The second EP of the year will be out on September 4. The track also features a new lyric video:
The “rebound” story of the new song is matched by a raunchy, rocking feel and the combination of two powerful voices. “His energy is so amazing,” says Alaina of Pardi. “Jon loved this song from the get-go and it was so fun to have him do this with me.”
Alaina co-wrote “Getting Over Him” with Paul DiGiovanni and Emily Weisband, and co-wrote every track on the forthcoming EP. She previously teamed with Pardi for the similarly spirited “Don’t Blame It On Whiskey,” from his 2019 album Heartache Medication. Pardi recently returned with the impromptu eight-track covers collection Rancho Fiesta Sessions.
“I can’t believe I have a rebound song”
“I’ve done duets with other people for their projects, but I have never done any for my own,” says Alaina. “I’ve got a duet with Pardi on his album, and then he loved this one. I can’t believe I have a rebound song — but I do!” On Twitter, she wrote: “Decided to COWBOY up for #GettingOverHim, and @jonpardi’s vocals are harMONEY.”
The Getting Over Him EP will also feature a duet with Lukas Graham, “What Do You Think Of?” Alaina previously shared the track “Run” as another preview of the release. Meanwhile, Getting Good holds at No.33 on this week’s Billboard Country Airplay chart, on which Alaina also climbs 21-20 as a featured guest, along with Devin Dawson, on HARDY’s hit “One Beer.”
“Getting Over Him” is on the EP of the same name, which is released on September 4. Pre-order it here.
