Lady Gaga And Bradley Cooper Set To Perform ‘Shallow’ At This Year’s Oscars
‘A Star Is Born’ is nominated for Best Picture whilst Cooper and Lady Gaga are nominated for Best Actor and Actress respectively.
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper will perform at this year’s Oscar ceremony, The Academy confirmed on social media over the weekend. The A Star Is Born duo, who are both hotly tipped to win Oscars at the event on 24 February, will perform ‘Shallow’ which is nominated for Best Original Song. The film itself is nominated for Best Picture whilst Cooper and Lady Gaga are nominated for Best Actor and Actress respectively.
Sam Elliot is also nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film, which has also received nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography and Sound Mixing.
In a series of tweets over the past few days, The Academy has also confirmed that Jennifer Hudson will perform at the ceremony, as will Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. There is no word yet on whether or not Kendrick Lamar and SZA will perform their song ‘All the Stars’ from the Black Panther soundtrack.
In a recent NME interview, Lukas Nelson spoke about writing songs for the film and working with both Cooper and Lady Gaga.
Speaking about Lady Gaga, Nelson said: “I really love her a lot and I feel like she does a great job with many things. Everything that she does, she puts her all into it. I relate to her in terms of songwriting, and so it really was a pleasure to work with her.”
Of his songwriting on the film, Nelson added: “[The songs] were not challenging to write for me; if I am starting to feel challenged, I stop writing. I produced ‘Shallow’ with my band (so you hear my band on there), and we arranged it with [Lady] Gaga in the studio with those guys. That was a fun project – watching them back her up was really a pleasure.
“My favourite that she sang was probably either ‘Music To My Eyes’ or ‘Is That Alright?’ which was one that I wrote. ‘Look What I Found’ was another that I wrote that she also did a great job on. So, you know, it’s great; it’s good stuff.”
