Knopfler, Blige, Wyman & More For BluesFest
R&B stars Mary J. Blige and Maxwell have joined a stellar bill for the 2016 BluesFest weekend (28-30 October) in London which already includes Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Bill Wyman, Bad Company and many others.
Blige and Maxwell will appear in a double bill at the 02 Arena on the opening night of the event, Friday 28 October. The festival will also feature shows both in the 02 complex’s sister venues indigo at The 02 and Brooklyn Bowl.
Knopfler is one of the guests at the unique Bill Wyman Birthday Gala to celebrate the former Rolling Stone’s 80th birthday, which falls earlier that week, on 24 October. Other guests include Bob Geldof, Imelda May and Mick Hucknall. That night’s Brooklyn Bowl line-up includes Darrel Higham, JD and the Straight Shot and Big Boy Bloater.
The Saturday (29 October) bill at the 02 Arena features rock staples Bad Company with Richie Sambora from Bon Jovi. The Brooklyn Bowl bill on Saturday offers Jo Harman, Lauren Housley and Hollie Stevenson. Sunday’s closing night at the 02 Arena has the powerhouse double bill of Morrison and Beck, while indigo at The 02 will play host to American bluesman Walter Trout and British blues-rock outfit the Temperance Movement.
BluesFest will take place in partnership with American Express, and tickets for all shows are available now at livenation.co.uk, apart from the Blige/Maxwell double bill, for which tickets go on general sale on 28 July at the same location.
