KISS Announce Hotter Than Hell 50th Anniversary Limited-Edition Reissue
The 1974 LP will be available on picture disc and gold nugget color vinyl.
Hard rock legends KISS have announced a limited reissue of Hotter Than Hell, their incendiary sophomore album. For its 50th anniversary, the album will be newly available on highly collectible picture disc vinyl and limited-edition color vinyl. Both releases are exclusive to the KISS official store.
The deluxe edition of Hotter Than Hell will be pressed onto gold nugget color vinyl and limited to 2,500 units worldwide. It’s packaged with a custom embossed jacket featuring silver metallic ink highlights, plus a bonus poster. The premium edition, limited to just 500 individually numbered copies, is a picture disc housed in a premium jacket wrapped with silver holographic paper and a new double-sided poster.
KISS first released Hotter Than Hell 40 years ago today on October 22, 1974, mere months after their hit self-titled debut LP. It features the single “Let Me Go, Rock ‘n’ Roll” and fan favorites such as “Hotter Than Hell” and “Got To Choose.” Hotter Than Hell found KISS continuing to work with producers Kenny Kerner and Richie Wise, with cover art by John Van Hamersveld influenced by Japanese anime. The Japanese influence extended to the photo on the back cover, for which photographer Norman Seeff shot the band partying with models and other colorful characters at the Stage in Hollywood.
KISS are one of the most successful rock bands of all time. They’ve released 30 Gold albums, the most by any artist from the United States, and have sold more than 100 million albums worldwide. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. Their theatrical approach to rock was massively influential, earning them disciples across all of popular music.
