Kid Cudi Announces New Single With Eminem
‘The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady’ drops this Friday via Republic.
Kid Cudi announced a new collaborative single with Eminem, appropriately titled, “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady.” News of the track, which drops this Friday, July 10, via Republic Records, came in the form of an adorable video of Kid Cudi’s daughter, Vada, who shared the news with her father’s fans over social media.
“The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady” comes on the heels of another collaborative single, “The Scotts,” which Cudi recorded with Travis Scott. Released in late April, the song debuted at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Cudi’s first time atop the chart.
Also in April, the multi-hyphenate star announced a forthcoming album, Entergalactic, set for release this Summer. The album will serve as the musical backdrop to a new animated adult series of the same name. Cudi co-created the upcoming Netflix series with producer, actor, and writer Kenya Barris (Black-ish, #BlackAF, Girls Trip). Barris recently appeared on Complex’s Watch Less podcast, to speak about the show. “It’s the craziest thing in terms of TV. It’s the most ambitious thing. It also shows who [Cudi] is as an artist,” he said.
Barris also shared his admiration for the artist: “He was one of the first rappers to sort of start talking about mental illness…. We started talking and he’s a huge fan of animation and that notion of animation lasts forever.” Barris added that the Entergalactic LP is an “amazing album.”
In related news, Kid Cudi and Kanye West recently announced their own animated series, KIDS SEE GHOSTS, based on their 2018 collaboration of the same name. While full details, including a premiere date, have yet to be revealed, the pair dropped a trailer several weeks ago. Directed by pop artist Takashi Murakami (who also designed the KIDS SEE GHOSTS album cover) the trailer features characters voiced by West and Cudi.
