Katy Perry Announces Extensive North American Tour And New Album, ‘Witness’
Katy Perry has announced details of an extensive North American tour and her new album, Witness.
Due for release on 9 June, Perry’s new album Witness is the much-anticipated follow-up to 2013’s Prism. More details of its contents are expected to follow, but a press release says the album contains songs that “reflects on the changes in her own life and in the world around her, delivering songs that both challenge and inspire.”
The singer, who is scheduled to perform on US television’s Saturday Night Live’s May 20 season finale, also announced details of an extensive arena tour for 2017. The North American Leg of Witness: The Tour kicks off on 7 September at the Schottenstein Centre in Columbus, Ohio and will find Perry filling 43 arenas in the US and Canada.
The stretch of dates includes major shows on both US coasts. There are four New York-area shows at each of the tristate area’s major arenas: 2 October at Madison Square Garden, 3 October at the revamped Nassau Coliseum, 8 October at Newark’s Prudential Centre and 11 October at Brooklyn’s Barclays Centre. Perry later plays in California at Los Angeles’ Staples Centre on 7 November and at the SAP Centre in San Jose on 14 November. The tour continues into 2018 and eventually concludes with a show at Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia on 5 February.
Tickets for Witness: The Tour go on sale to the general public on 22 May 2017, although Citi cardholders and Ticketmaster Verified Fan members will have an opportunity to purchase tickets starting Thursday, 18 May. One dollar from each ticket purchased will go to the Boys & Girls Club of America. Fans will also have a chance to win free tickets by donating to that organisation via Global Citizen. Each ticket purchased for the tour will also be accompanied by a copy of Perry’s new album.
