Karol G, Anuel AA Notch Fourth Entry In YouTube Billion Views Club As ‘Culpables’ Surpasses Milestone
The video was released in September 2018.
Karol G and Anuel AA have both notched their fourth entries in YouTube’s Billion Views Club as their 2018 collaboration “Culpables” speeds past the milestone after racking up views over the past four years.
“Culpables” joins Karol G’s former release “Tusa,” which features Nicki Minaj, and Anuel AA’s appearance on “BEBE.” It marks the pair’s third together, joining their previous collaborations “China” and “Secreto.”
“The most amazing thing about this project is that many people tell me: Why work with Anuel? Obviously, I respect the expression of different artists. I do not judge or criticize the style of anyone. I represent and defend my style,” Karol G told Billboard when the video first arrived in September 2018. “What I love about ‘Culpables’ is that it’s a completely clean song. We do not speak ill of women or men. The song is clean. It does not have bad words.”
Speaking of the video, she added: “What I like about the video is that it preserves the message of the song. The director managed a very clean image of both of us.” For Anuel AA, the highlight was “that the video shows another image of me, that was not to be the bad guy.”
“Culpables” landed on Karol G’s second studio album Ocean. The project featured collaborations with Anuel AA, J Balvin, Maluma, Yandel, Damian Marley, and Nicky Jam. The song was one of five singles, joining “Pineapple,” “Mi Cama,” “Créeme,” and “Punto G.”
“My challenge with this album was to show people that I’m not just [being sexual] to succeed,” Karol G told Rolling Stone of Ocean in 2019. “This is me saying, ‘Miren pa’ que hablen.’ (Look, here’s something to talk about.) And if they keep talking, there’s not much more I can do.”
