Kali Uchis Teases New Album ‘Orquídeas’
If it arrives before the end of the year, it would be the star’s second album of 2023
Kali Uchis has teased the upcoming arrival of another new album, seemingly recorded in Spanish and titled Orquídeas – which translates to Orchids.
The star shared a teaser on her Instagram page yesterday (October 9), which notably shares some similarities to how the singer teased her latest release, Red Moon In Venus.
The video opens on a TV screen that reads: “Kali Uchis Album 4.” When Uchis’ hand presses a button on the remote, it offers four language options: English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French. After she selects Spanish, the screen changes to a floral background with Orquídeas written over it.
The clip ends with a shot of Uchis sitting on a mossy bank and looking straight at the camera. In the caption, she told fans: “a despertarse k YA SE VIENE… (wake up, it’s coming…).”
It has only been seven months since the star released her third album, Red Moon In Venus. That record peaked at No.4 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year, giving Uchis her first Top 10-charting album. The record featured collaborations with Summer Walker, Don Toliver, and Omar Apollo, while it drew critical acclaim across the board.
Since then, Uchis has embarked on the Red Moon In Venus tour and shared a new track called “Muñekita” – which featured El Alfa and City Girls’ JT – back in August. “I love bringing artists together that you’d least expect,” Uchis said at the time.
“El Alfa is a Latino legend and JT is coming for everything she deserves this year as a solo artist. Both of them are known for their summer hits and high energy, so I’m incredibly excited to bring them together for a fun, sexy song like this.”
The star has more live appointments to come this year, including an appearance at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival. The event will take place on the Dodger Stadium grounds in Los Angeles between November 11-12.
