Justin Bieber’s ‘Yummy’ Gets Country Remix With Florida Georgia Line
It follows the original version and the recently-released mix featuring up-and-coming R&B artist Summer Walker.
Justin Bieber has posted another mix of his ‘Yummy’ hit — and this time it’s gone country. The remix features multi-platinum country-pop duo Florida Georgia Line and follows the original version and the recently-released mix featuring up-and-coming R&B artist Summer Walker.
The country incarnation of ‘Yummy’ features a subtle pedal steel guitar and an introduction to Bieber’s vocal by FGL’s Tyler Hubbard. The original version of the track, released on 3 January and written by the superstar with Ashley Boyd, Jason Boyd, Sasha Sirota and Daniel Hackett, is on Bieber’s Changes album.
‘Yummy’ debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, also reaching runners-up spot in Denmark and Hungary, among other countries. It reached No. 4 in Australia, No. 5 in the UK and was a top ten single in a number of other markets.
Changes, released on 14 February, will post its first chart positions in the coming days. On Monday (16), the Official Charts Company’s sales update based on the first three days of the chart week had the album locked in a neck-and-neck race for No. 1 with Tame Impala’s The Slow Rush, which led the way by just over 900 combined units. Bieber has one previous UK No. 1 album to his name, with 2012’s Believe; his last studio set, 2015’s Purpose, peaked at No. 2.
Bieber appeared on Tuesday’s (18) edition of Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show With James Corden. He also guested on Saturday Night Live and added further to his crossover country credentials by appearing on ‘10,000 Hours’ by hit Nashville duo Dan + Shay. The song is currently No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart for a 19th consecutive week. Florida Georgia Line’s current single ‘Blessings,’ from their Can’t Say I Ain’t Country album, climbs 28-26 on the same chart.
