Justin Bieber Breaks A New Record With ‘Ghost’
Among male solo artists, Bieber has the most No.1 hits on Billboard’s Pop Airplay Chart.
Justin Bieber has broken a new record with his single “Ghost,” which just became his tenth No.1 single on Billboard’s Pop Airplay Chart. The feat finds Bieber surpassing Bruno Mars as the male solo artist with the most No.1s on the chart since it began in 1992.”Ghost” marks the sixth single off Bieber’s sixth studio album, Justice, which dropped in March 2021.
Bieber is one of only four musicians to reach double-digits on the chart, joining the likes of Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Maroon 5. Last September, Bieber’s collaboration with The Kid LAROI, “Peaches,” also made headlines, when the song spent 13 weeks at the top of the Pop Airplay Chart (marking the second-longest run in the chart’s history).
Released as a single in September 2021, “Ghost” was penned by Bieber in hopes of uplifting fans during the pandemic, while helping them cope with other personal struggles. Bieber, who performed the song at the MTV Video Music Awards last fall, also released a music video, directed by Colin Tilley, starring actress Diane Keaton as his grandmother. The emotional visual finds the duo struggling with the loss of a loved one.
“‘Ghost’ is a really special record,” Bieber said in a commercial for Dolby Atmos. “My objective with making the song was to make people feel like there is hope, and the trauma and the hurt that you feel isn’t gonna last forever. It takes time to heal. There will be a moment when that pain doesn’t hurt so bad. Know that that feeling will subside.”
Bieber, meanwhile, is set to kick off his Justice World Tour this month in the US, before playing various dates across North America through June. From there, the pop star will continue his tour across Europe, Australia, and South America through March of 2023, with the final leg ending in Poland. More details on the full list of tour dates are available on his official website.
