The Jonas Brothers Share Retro-Styled Video For New Single, ‘Cool’
The brothers pay homage to Duran Duran’s classic ‘Rio’ music video and Elton John’s ‘I’m Still Standing’ as they hit the beach in the new clip.
The Jonas Brothers had the world back on Team Jonas with their reunion single, ‘Sucker,’ but the boys are only just getting back into their stride as they have now dropped their fun new single, ‘Cool’.
‘Cool’ follows a colorful, 1980s’ Miami Vice theme, and the accompanying music video – which you can see below- is equally retro. The brothers pay homage to Duran Duran’s classic ‘Rio’ music video and Elton John’s ‘I’m Still Standing’ as they hit the beach with their colorful dance squad (all of them wearing ’80s aerobics garb). They’re also packing ghetto blasters, big shoulder pads and loads of cologne. The video was directed by Anthony Mandler, who also helmed the promo clip for ‘Sucker’.
During the song, Joe Jonas sings: “Lately I’ve been feelin’ so cool/ Top to the bottom just cool/ Every little thing that I do/ Dammit I’m feelin’ so cool-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooh.” The former Disney stars also reference James Dean, Game of Thrones and Post Malone in their new song.
After confirming their plans to reunite earlier this year, Jonas Brothers held a week long takeover of The Late Late Show With James Corden, followed by the release of ‘Sucker.’ Their first song in six years, the single debuted at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100. Jonas Brothers will also be the subject of an upcoming Amazon Studios documentary that is being produced in partnership with Philymack and Federal Films. It’s slated to premiere on Amazon Prime. The new film is set to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the band as they prep for an upcoming tour, according to previous reports in Variety.
“Our fans are the best in the world and have shared in our journey as the Jonas Brothers and us as individuals,” the Jonas Brothers said in a statement. “In releasing this documentary, we wanted to make sure we partnered with an innovative platform, like Amazon, that could reach our fans around the world.”
