Janet Jackson has announced she’ll be hitting the road this summer to support her forthcoming album Black Diamond, that will also include a special performance of Rhythm Nation 1814.
After conquering Las Vegas, Miss Jackson will be taking over arenas across the nation with a whole new tour production. Along with debuting new music, the pop and R&B icon will be performing songs from her storied career.
Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on 24 June in Miami and features 34 dates in major cities including Toronto, Atlanta, New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden and the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The North American leg will wrap up on 23 August, at the Tacoma Dome in Washington State. European dates and the rest of the world will be announced soon. Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Thursday, 13 February at LiveNation.com.
Last year saw the Grammy-winning and multi-platinum artist be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In her speech, she thanked the legendary production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who helped to usher in a new era for the singer, including her seminal 1989 record, Rhythm Nation 1814.
Jackson celebrated the 30th anniversary of Rhythm Nation last year with a new remix collection, compiling over 80 remixes and three B-sides from the era.
The record was also part of a career-spanning vinyl reissue series, that included her other classic releases, from her 1986 breakout solo record, Control to 1993’s Janet., 1997’s The Velvet Rope and 2001’s All for You.
