Jack Bruce Tribute Concert For October
‘Sunshine Of Your Love,’ an all-star tribute concert to the late and great Jack Bruce, has been announced today, to take place at the Roundhouse in London on Saturday, October 24, 2015.
Artists already confirmed for what looks set to be a fitting tribute to the vast musical contribution of the much-loved bass virtuoso include his former Cream bandmate Ginger Baker. Longtime collaborators, friends and admirers also on the bill include Phil Manzanera, Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Vernon Reid of Living Colour, Mark King of Level 42, Liam Bailey, vocalists Joss Stone and Fiona Bevan and Jack’s own Big Blues Band.
The concert will raise funds for Jack’s favourite charity, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). The musical director for the evening will be artist and composer Nitin Sawnhey, who says: “Jack Bruce was one of my biggest heroes when I was growing up – a consummate musician, composer and all round rock genius with a killer voice and one of the most creative and versatile musical minds of his generation.
“Being asked to musically direct this show celebrating his life and work is a great honour and privilege and I look forward to working with an amazing line up of contemporary artists and rock legends.”
More names will be added to the bill in due course, and public booking for the show opens on Wednesday (18). More information here.
