Alt-Musica Mexicana Phenomenon Ivan Cornejo Shares ‘Donde Estás’
The artist is coming off a celebrated set at the Austin City Limits festival.
Breakout alt-musica Mexicana phenomenon Ivan Cornejo has shared a sweeping new single “Donde Estás.” On the poignant track the always emotive singer is especially vulnerable, the slight rasp in his voice on full heartbreaking display over a slow instrumental build.
The track begins as a woozy synth reverie, then seamlessly transforms through steady acoustic strums, hypnotic harmonies, a bellowing horn, and an echoing electric guitar solo. The song and its official music video are now available on all platforms via Interscope Records.
The accompanying video then takes us to outer space as Cornejo treks through a vast, otherworldly landscape, looking out onto the universe before catching sight of a woman—perhaps a mirage—who he can never quite reach. Running like a moody mini-movie, the visuals are stark yet striking.
This past Sunday, the multi-platinum singer-songwriter delivered an unforgettable performance at Austin City Limits festival—an act deemed as a “must see” by the Austin Chronicle in the week leading up to the performance. Shortly after, Ivan brought his Terapia Tour to Mexico for the first time ever, with shows in Mexico City and Monterrey. The run will conclude tonight, October 13, in Guadalajara.
Earlier this year, the popular tour also galvanized Chicago fans with a sold out show at Park West and amassed a sea of thousands of screaming fans at the iconic Lollapalooza Festival the following day. Both performances kicked off Cornejo’s sold out Terapia Tour, which included stops across the United States visiting major cities such as New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and Chicago.
At the beginning of the month, Cornejo took home the “Regional Mexican Album of the Year” award for the second consecutive year in recognition of his critically acclaimed debut album, Dañado, at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Cornejo beat out heavy hitting contenders Peso Pluma, Fuerza Regida, and Eslabón Armado.
