Ian Brown Announces First UK Headline Tour In A Decade
The shows begin in Leeds’ O2 Academy on September 25 and conclude at Brixton Academy in London on October 7.
Ian Brown has announced details of his first UK headline tour in a decade. You can check out the full schedule below.
The Stone Roses frontman will return to the stage across September and October, after refusing to play any shows at venues that had COVID restrictions in place during the pandemic.
The new tour dates begin in Leeds at the O2 Academy on September, running through to early October when Brown will headline Brixton Academy in London.
Brown’s last solo album, Ripples, arrived in March 2019. The singer produced the album as well as writing the majority of tracks. Three of the songs were co-written with his sons, who also play a multitude of instruments across the release. Covers of Barrington Levy’s “Black Roses” and “Break Down The Walls” by Mikey Dread completed the album.
Aside from his work with the influential Stone Roses, Brown has previously released six studio albums, including the acclaimed gold-selling titles Unfinished Money Business and Golden Greats. Prior to Ripples, his recent solo set was 2009’s My Way, released by Fiction Records, which included the popular single “Stellify”. Brown also made a notable cameo role in the 2004 film Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban as a wizard magically stirring his drink while reading Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History Of Time At The Leaky Cauldron.
The singer has made no secret of his attitude to COVID-19 vaccinations. Last summer, he was removed from the TRNSMT Festival line-up in Glasgow due to attendees being required to show proof of a negative lateral flow test or be fully vaccinated to gain entry. He also cancelled his Neighborhood Weekender performance for similar reasons in 2021.
See the full list of dates below. Tickets will be available for the shows from 9.30am GMT on Friday, March 18.
