The Who To Hit North America Next Year
The Who have announced not one, but two North American legs of their ‘The Who Hits 50!’ tour, both for 2015.
With the band’s UK and Irish dates due to start on Nov. 28, following the release of their new compilation of the same name, they’ve confirmed two sets of dates across the Atlantic. The first leg will begin on April 15 in Tampa Florida, with 19 shows running until May 30 in Forest Hills, New Hampshire.
Later in the year, The Who will be back in North America for a second run of shows, beginning on September 14 in San Diego, California. This even bigger itinerary features 24 shows, concluding on November 4 in Philadelphia. Tickets will go on sale to the general public next Friday (October 17 at 10 am (local time for each location) at the band’s website.
The tour will be presented by AEG Live. The official credit card is Citi, whose cardmembers will have be able to purchase presale tickets from this Monday (13).The tour will also include the chance to buy exclusive VIP packages, which feature reserved, premium seats, access to a pre-show soundcheck and party, autographed, limited edition memorabilia and more. $1 from each ticket sale on the North American tour will go to Teen Cancer America.
‘The Who Hits 50!’ will see Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend celebrating their entire career, right back to their days as the High Numbers. The shows, which are described by Townshend as containing “hits, picks, mixes and misses,” will include material from all of the band’s landmark albums, including ‘Who’s Next,’ ‘Tommy,’ ‘Quadrophenia,’ ‘My Generation,’ ‘Live At Leeds,’ all the way to their most recent work. The band recently unveiled the warmly-received new track ‘Be Lucky,’ which will be on the upcoming compilation.
