Highway Releases New Single And Video ‘Next Weekend’
The single follows his major label debut, ‘Cash Talk (No Talkin),’
Rising Seattle rapper and producer Highway is back with the mesmerizing “Next Weekend.” The track is out now via Victor Victor Worldwide/Geffen Records.
Over gleaming synths and punchy bass drums, Highway dives from narcotized croons to impassioned raps in his signature double-time flow. “Next Weekend” is now available at all digital retailers.
“Next Weekend,” which follows “Cash Talk (No Talkin),” is another tantalizing glimpse of Highway’s highly anticipated new project, which is due this summer. Over ghostly drum programming, he sets his eyes on his continued ascension. But he also takes some time to flex on the track, basking in the success he’s already earned. “I just bought a coupe, there’s only room for two,” he raps. “It actually got back seats/ But there ain’t no room for you.”
Highway might be a fresh face to some, but his deep sense for making textured rap tracks comes from time spent as an in-demand producer. As a beatmaker, he reached a level of satisfaction and achievement with his work and decided to turn his talent toward rapping. It didn’t take long for Highway to realize that he belonged behind the mic. Confidence is central to his art, and he advocates for those who are unapologetically themselves and willing to follow their passions.
Highway quickly found a loyal and devoted audience with his independent releases and the recently dropped “Cash Talk (No Talkin),” which is steadily becoming one of the songs of the summer.
“Next Weekend” is the latest release from an artist quickly becoming one of the most exciting names in rap. So far, he has caught cosigns from folks like Billboard-charting producer Jetson, producer and recording artist Ye Ali, Nick Mira of Internet Money, and indie auteur Sango. With “Next Weekend” and his recent major-label debut “Cash Talk (No Talkin),” Highway proves that his innovative approach to rap music is here to stay.
