Hear Halsey Cover The Jonas Brothers’ Hit ‘Sucker’

Halsey channelled her inner cabaret singer for a soulful cover of The Jonas Brothers’ chart-topping hit ‘Sucker’ for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.
The 24-year-old singer-songwriter slowed down the beat of the peppy track to deliver a stirring acoustic version of the song.
Putting her own spin on the song, Halsey completely changes the arrangement and it sounds almost unrecognisable from the original, the sign of a great cover. Halsey brings her smoky alto to the track and transforms into a jazz chanteuse.
After hearing her rendition, the Jonas Brothers shared their enthusiasm for the cover on social media.
“Omg! Halsey covering sucker!? So amazing, this is so cool,” wrote Joe Jonas. “Wow! Halsey cover of ‘Sucker’ on Live Lounge is incredible,” added Nick Jonas.
The singer was in the UK to promote her new single, ‘Nightmare’, her eighth Top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and performed a dreamy acoustic version of the usual angsty anthem. She’s also set to play Wembley Stadium on 8 June and Camden’s Electric Ballroom on 10 June.
Earlier this week, she was also listed as one of the featured performers at the upcoming iHeartRadio Music Festival that takes place in Las Vegas 20-21 September.
While many fans have been speculating on a follow-up to 2017’s Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, Halsey has been keeping busy, appearing on the smash hit, ‘Boy With Luv’ featuring K-pop stars BTS and giving an electric performance at the Billboard Music Awards.
Meanwhile the Jonas Brothers recently appeared in the new Amazon documentary Chasing Happiness that premiered on 4 June and chronicles the brothers’ journey from their suburban childhood to teen superstardom, their surprising hiatus and their triumphant reunion.
The film draws upon a mix of home videos, concert footage and recent interviews that shows how the brothers got back together to record their new album, Happiness Begins that comes out tomorrow, 6 June.
