Gwen Stefani celebrated the 15th anniversary of her debut solo record Love.Angel.Music.Baby. by performing a medley of hits from the album on The Voice.
The pop icon, fashion mogul and Voice judge was joined by special guest Eve, who performed their original collaborative hit on the album, ‘Rich Girl’.
Given that Stefani doesn’t age like us mere mortals, it was as if no time had passed when she took the stage in another high-fashion outfit to perform her genre-spanning hits ‘What You Waiting For?’, ‘Rich Girl’ and the smash single, ‘Hollaback Girl’ during Tuesday’s top 11 Voice results show. Eve also looked stunning, dressed in a studded catsuit and reprising her verses on the hit single.
After her performance, Stefani was presented with commemorative plaque from Interscope Records for the album’s anniversary and its 15 million copies sold worldwide. As the current host of The Voice, Carson Daly has plenty of shared history with Stefani, since his old days hosting MTV’s Total Request Live and a host for the LA rock station, KROQ.
“You’re one of my oldest friends in the music business,” said Daly fondly. “We both got our starts here together in Southern California at KROQ. And I’m honoured to have this cool moment with you. I love you, you’re the best.”
The album has sold more than 15 million units worldwide to date and is certified Platinum or greater in 10 countries, including 5x Platinum in the US. Love.Angel.Music.Baby. was also nominated for two Grammy Awards including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album and the first three singles also received Grammy nods.
A lot has changed in the 15 years since Stefani launched her solo career. She started a family, recorded two more solo albums, launched a fashion empire with L.A.M.B and fell in love with her Voice co-star Blake Shelton.
On Monday’s Voice episode, Stefani took her team to the iconic LA venue, the Whisky a Go-Go, where No Doubt played a record release party back in 1992.
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of its release, Love.Angel.Music Baby. has been remastered by five-time Grammy nominee Chris Gehringer of Sterling Sound and is available on streaming services.
