Guns N’ Roses have been confirmed as the first act for the Louder Than Life Festival at the KY Expo Center in Louisville, Kentucky this September.
Featuring the classic line-up of Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, the band will head to the Highland Festival Grounds at the KY Expo Center for the three-day festival that runs from Friday, 27 September to Sunday, 29 September.
“There are only a handful of bands through the years whose music not only resonates with fans but changes the entire face of rock’n’roll. Guns N’ Roses is one of those true icons,” said Louder Than Life producer Danny Wimmer in a statement. “Every year we want to come back bigger and better, and we can’t wait to welcome Axl, Slash, Duff and the rest of GN’R to the Louder Than Life stage.”
The festival gig marks the band’s first show since their December performance in Hawaii benefitting the Andy Irons Foundation. The four members first reunited for the ‘Not in This Lifetime… Tour’ that ran from April 2016 through December 2018 and was one of the biggest selling tours in history. It marked the first time the four had toured together since their 1993 tour to promote Use Your Illusion.
Guns N’ Roses also released the Grammy-winning career-spanning box set Appetite For Destruction: Locked N’ Loaded Edition last summer and McKagan recently announced his highly anticipated solo album, Tenderness that’s set for release on 31 May and was produced by Shooter Jennings.
“Before beginning this project, I was asked more than a few times if I was going to write a book on my experience of the two-and-a-half-year GN’R Not In This Lifetime … tour,” said McKagan. “While, of course, it had been an amazing experience, in the end, I decided the ideas swirling around in my head were better suited for a record.”
The Louder Than Life festival will announce its full line-up on Monday, 8 April, and tickets will go on sale at 9:00 am ET the same day.
