Gibson Launches New Slash Collection In Collaboration With Guitar Hero
The collection will officially premiere at the Gibson experience space during Winter NAMM 2020 in Anaheim, California this month.
Guitar manufacturer Gibson has announced the release of the first Slash Collection, featuring multiple acoustic and electric guitars in partnership with the guitar hero.
The collection comprises the most influential Gibson guitars that Slash has used throughout his storied career, both with Guns N’ Roses and as a solo artist, and which can still be seen and heard in his live shows. It will officially premiere at the Gibson experience space during Winter NAMM 2020 in Anaheim, California, which takes places from 15-19 January. The space is situated on the 3rd Floor, Ballroom A.
Slash worked closely with Gibson’s luthiers in the the creation of the collection, which features four Les Paul Standard electric guitars and two J-45 Standard acoustic guitars. Each Slash Collection Les Paul Standard features a AAA maple top, a solid Mahogany body and Slash’s personal touches such as a C-shape neck profile, signature Gibson “SlashBucker” pickups, colour-coordinated hardware appointments, hand-wired electronics with orange drop capacitors and a vintage style brown hardshell case.
As exclusive features to the collection, Slash’s “Scully” signature drawing features on the back of the headstock, along with the guitarist’s signature on the truss rod cover, a blank truss rod cover in the case, Slash’s new Ernie Ball strings and four Slash Jim Dunlop Tortex picks. The Slash Collection Les Paul Standard is available in November Burst, Appetite Burst, Vermillion Burst and Anaconda Burst.
Each Gibson J-45 Standard in the new range has a mixture of traditional appointments and modern features. They include a custom Slash rounded C-neck profile, a fatter and more modern 16” fingerboard radius and a versatile LR Baggs VTC pickup for natural acoustic sound.
“Developing my new Collection with the new team at Gibson has been really exciting,” says Slash. “The quality and attention to detail is next level, and these guitars truly reflect what I play live and in the studio. I think guitarists will be inspired by what we’ve put together.”
Adds Cesar Gueikian, chief merchant officer of Gibson: “Working with Slash is an honour and to develop his new Gibson Collection was an incredible journey; Slash is a perfectionist and a guitar nerd like me, and the new Slash Collection is a true reflection of him.” Slash will be back on the road with the collection soon, as Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime tour resumes.
