Four Vintage 1980s Status Quo Albums Get Special Editions
The new editions will offer Quo fans a total of 31 previously unreleased tracks or versions.
Four classic albums by Status Quo will be released in 2CD and 3CD editions by USM/Mercury on 28 September. The special editions of 1+9+8+2, Back To Back, In The Army Now and Ain’t Complaining will contain a total of 31 previously unreleased tracks or versions.
The albums have been remastered by Andy Pearce from original tapes, where available, and each one contains an enhanced booklet featuring sleeve notes from new interviews by Classic Rock journalist Dave Ling. They also feature new artwork by Hugh Gilmour and rare photographs and memorabilia from the collection of longtime Quo confidant Bob Young, their tour manager and frequent co-writer.
1+9+8+2, released in the year of the title, went to No. 1 in the UK and was the first Quo LP to feature Andy Bown. The new 2CD edition has a second disc of b-sides, extended mixes and 22 newly-available live tracks taken from rehearsal sessions. 1983’s Back To Back, their final set to feature Alan Lancaster, will now be a 2CD set containing b-sides, songs by Bernard Frost and Francis Rossi and the outtake ‘Cadillac Ranch.’
In The Army Now, from 1986, was the band’s 17th studio album and first to include current member Rhino Edwards; the 2CD version offers a bonus disc of b-sides including the unreleased ‘Rock N Roll Floorboards’ as well as extended mixes and unheard live material. Finally, Ain’t Complaining, Quo’s 1988 album, will now appear as a 3CD set with bonus material and a live performance at Wembley for the BBC in July that year.
