Florence + The Machine Confirmed To Headline Boardmasters 2019
Surf’s up once again at the popular Cornish festival which will also feature Franz Ferdinand, Dizzee Rascal, IDLES and more next year.
Florence + The Machine will top the bill at next year’s Boardmasters Festival. The music and surfing festival in Cornwall will also see performances by Giggs, Franz Ferdinand, Dizzee Rascal, Jorja Smith, Wilkinson b2b Sub Focus, DJ EZ, IDLES, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Lewis Capaldi, Pete Murray and Lady Leshurr, while electronic-pop singer Self Esteem and recent Welsh Music Prize-winning Boy Azooga have also been confirmed to appear.
Boardmasters 2019 runs from Wednesday 7 to Sunday 11 August. Tickets are available via the festival’s official website with a £30 deposit. The event is held across Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay in Newquay and the organisers have also confirmed that the World Surf League Qualifying Series, featuring some of the best known names in surfing, will again take place as part of the festival.
Additionally, Boardmasters will continue its beach cleans in partnership with Surfers Against Sewage throughout the year as well as during the festival. This year’s successful re-useable cup scheme will continue, along with the litter bond to incentivize campers to pick up their litter and recycle, Cornwall’s ‘Final Straw’ scheme and much more in place to make Boardmasters as clean, environmentally-friendly and enjoyable as possible.
In 2018, Boardmasters welcomed over 50,000 festival goers to Cornwall and featured headline performances from Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Chemical Brothers and George Ezra. NME described the much-acclaimed event as full of “stunning sea views and an eclectic mic of indie, dance, dubstep, rap and soul”, noting Years & Years’ “dazzling show”, with frontman Olly Alexander continuing “his pitch to be one of this decade’s most likeable and multi-talented pop stars.”
Inspired by the freedom, adventure and creativity of surfing and music, Boardmasters was first born in 1981. Festival goers are told to expect parties that run late into the night and a beautiful beach to recuperate on during the day.
