Christmas came early for Florence + The Machine fans, with the arrival of an expanded box set of their High As Hope album, set for release in January 2019.
The deluxe edition includes new cover art, a 22-tarot card set, a 64-page book with exclusive behind-the-scenes photos and two petal-covered 12” picture discs: one featuring High As Hope and the other includes acoustic versions of ‘Hunger’, ‘South London Forever’ and ‘Patricia’. The box set is available for pre-order now on the band’s official website.
Dropping High As Hope back in June, Florence Welch released her most personal record to date and scaled back on the baroque pop of albums’ past. Upon release, the album debuted at No. 2 both on the UK album charts and the Billboard 200.

Welch is currently on tour to support the new album and recently wrapped up two triumphant sets at London’s O2 in which she revealed that the track ‘Patricia’ was written for the legendary punk-poet Patti Smith.
“This song is basically all for you [Patti], except for one bit in the middle which is about toxic masculinity,” said Welch.
In an interview with SiriusXM around the time of the album’s release, Welch elaborated on how the legendary singer-songwriter inspired her record:
“When I was thinking about this period of time, where I was trying to figure out how to live a creative life but outside of the kind of epic highs and lows, I was reading a lot of Patti Smith’s work and I was in this little bubble, quietly making my record and I would read her writing and she would bring so much reverence to even daily life.”
The inclusion of tarot cards in this set should come as no surprise, given the multi-talented singer released a book of lyrics and poetry titled Useless Magic earlier in the year.
