Eminem Hits Ten Million, Twice
Eminem has become the first artist to hit ten million US sales and streams with two separate singles. The rap superstar will receive two Digital Single Diamond Awards from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), to mark the success of ‘Not Afraid’ and his collaboration with Rihanna, ‘Love the Way You Lie,’ both on his 2010 album ‘Recovery.’
“We are delighted to recognize Eminem as the first artist to earn two RIAA Digital Diamond Awards,” says RIAA chairman/CEO Cary Sherman. “This singular achievement – earning a Diamond Award on two separate digital songs – is unparalleled, and we congratulate him on forever etching a mark in Gold & Platinum Program history.”
The Digital Single Award was established by the RIAA in 2004, with music streams added to the sales count last year. The first female artist to reach the milestone was Lady Gaga with ‘Bad Romance,’ and Justin Bieber reached the ten million mark last summer with ‘Baby.’
