Eminem, Kacey Musgraves, Tame Impala, And More Featured On ‘Elvis’ Soundtrack
The film is set to debut on June 24.
The full artist lineup for the Elvis soundtrack has been revealed, and artists featured include Eminem, Stevie Nicks, Tame Impala, Kacey Musgraves, Jack White and more.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Musgraves will cover Elvis Presley’s classic 1961 hit, “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” for the soundtrack to the upcoming biopic. The film is directed by Baz Luhrmann (William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!, The Get Down). Musgraves confirmed details in an interview with Variety during the Met Gala.
Elvis is set to premiere at the 75th annual Cannes Film Festival this week, while the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 24. Actor Austin Butler (The Carrie Diaries) will star as the legendary icon, with Tom Hanks playing Presley’s longtime manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Additional cast members on the film include Richard Roxburgh, Luke Bracey, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Olivia DeJonge. The production revealed a new trailer, which you can watch above.
“In this modern era, the life of Elvis Presley could not be a better canvas on which to explore America in the Fifties, Sixties, Seventies,” Luhrmann previously shared in a statement. “It was 42 years, but that’s three great lives put into one. What’s extraordinary about it is that life is culturally at the center of the Fifties, socially the Sixties, and actually the Seventies.”
Musgraves, meanwhile, has been off to a busy year. The country star kicked off 2022 with a North American tour in support of her critically-acclaimed fifth studio album, star-crossed. In March, Musgraves was honored as one of TIME’s Women of the Year, and performed at the gala. Last month, she was also a recipient of the Vanguard Award at the 33rd annual GLAAD Media Awards.
Looking ahead, Musgraves is scheduled to play a number of festivals throughout the summer, including UK’s Glastonbury, Denmark’s Roskilde, and the newly announced Palomino Festival in California.
