Elton John To Host All-Star ‘Living Room Concert For America’
The event will feature Alicia Keys, Backstreet Boys, Billie Eilish, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mariah Carey, Tim McGraw and more, each performing from their own home.
Elton John is to host an all-star event this weekend, announced today by iHeartMedia and Fox Entertainment, to provide entertainment relief and support for Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fox Presents The iHeartMedia Living Room Concert For America will feature Alicia Keys, Backstreet Boys, Billie Eilish, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mariah Carey, Tim McGraw and more, each performing from their own home.
The show will celebrate the resilience and strength of the nation during the current crisis, and will feature performances filmed with the stars’ personal cell phones, cameras and audio equipment. The concert will air in original planned broadcast time slot for the iHeartRadio Music Awards, this Sunday (29 March) from 9-10pm ET/6-7pm PT on Fox, and on iHeartMedia radio stations nationwide. It will also be available via the iHeartRadio app and will be broadcast commercial-free.
As well as music performances, the hour-long special will pay tribute to the frontline health professionals, first responders and local heroes who are risking their own healthy and safety to help their neighbours and to fight the spread of the coronavirus. The multi-artist concert will also encourage viewers to support two of the many charitable organisations that are helping victims and first responders during the pandemic, Feeding America and First Responders Children’s Foundation.
Organisers will soon announce more details about the event, and the names of more performers who will take part. More information is available at the event’s dedicated web page. In order to extend the reach and accessibility of the commercial-free show’s charitable element, Fox will offer the event across all of its linear and digital platforms.
The executive producers of Fox Presents The iHeartMedia Living Room Concert For America are John Sykes and Tom Poleman for iHeartMedia and Joel Gallen for Tenth Planet Productions. The latter company produced the multi-network telethons that aired in the immediate wake of 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the Haiti Earthquake.
