Elbow Preview ‘Little Fictions’
Elbow have unveiled the first track from their much-anticipated seventh studio release Little Fictions. ‘Magnificent (She Says)’ is a mid-tempo, elegantly orchestrated track featuring the ever-distinctive lead vocals of Guy Garvey, and previews the album which, as the band announced as long ago as July, will be released on 3 February, 2017.
The new set is the follow-up to 2014’s The Take Off and Landing of Everything, which topped the charts in their native UK. It also comes in the wake of Garvey’s first solo album Courting The Squall, which came out in October 2015 and reached No. 3 in his home country.
The album coincides with Elbow’s return to the road for an extensive tour of the UK and Ireland. They open in Dublin at the Olympia Theatre on 26 February, with dates throughout most of March including three at London’s Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.
On their website, Elbow say of Little Fictions: “It started with a week around the fire in a frozen Scotland in January and ended with a sleepless three day stint in Salford in November. In between, truly amazing things happened. It’s all here.”
Produced by regular collaborator Craig Potter, features session drummer Alex Reeves, string players from the Hallé Orchestra, backing vocals from Hallé Ancoats Community Choir and London Contemporary Voices. A limited edition boxset version of the album will be available containing a bespoke book, exclusive art prints, CD, LP and digital download of the album.
