Lil Yachty Says Drake Wrote His ‘Churchill Downs’ Verse In 11 Minutes
Yachty revealed the tidbit on ‘Off The Record.’
Lil Yachty sat down with DJ Akademiks for an episode of Off The Record on June 4 to discuss a number of topics, at one point mentioned that Drake told him he wrote his “Churchill Downs” verse in 11 minutes. The song appears on Jack Harlow’s sophomore album Come Home The Kids Miss You.
In other Drake news, he recently shared a photo from his first time meeting the HAIM sisters, and captioned the photo with one of the most complimentary statuses you can offer a band.
“Just met the Beatles,” he wrote under the black and white photograph, which showed him hugging the sisters in a friendly moment.
Back in May, Drake broke his tie with Ariana Grande and BTS to be crowned the artist with the most No.1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart debuts.
Until his latest hit with Future, “Wait for U”, stormed to the top of the US chart, the superstar rapper was in joint place with the pop megastar and K-Pop boy band.
However, he now has six No.1 Hot 100 debuts to his name, with “Wait for U” joining “God’s Plan”, “Nice for What”, “Toosie Slide”, “What’s Next” and “Way 2 Sexy”. The hip-hop star has a total of 10 No.1 hits on the chart.
Yachty hasn’t been as active lately. Last year in August, he released Birthday Mix Vol. 6 via Quality Control Music & Motown Records. The annual tradition is a fan favorite among Yachty devotees.
The rapper, entrepreneur, and mogul has released his birthday mixes since 2015 exclusively on SoundCloud, with this installation being the first available on all streaming platforms. Birthday Mix Vol. 6 is a nine-track project featuring verses from Lil Tecca, Sofaygo, and DC2DRILL & Draft Day, who are both signed to Lil Yachty’s Concrete Boys label.
Back in June of 2021, Lil Yachty shared “Love Music.” The laid-back single was his first release following his highly praised Michigan Boy Boat mixtape.
