Demi Lovato has released her latest single “Dancing With The Devil,” which appears on her forthcoming album Dancing With The Devil, The Art of Starting Over out April 2 via Island Records. Listen to it here.
“I was dancing with the devil / Out of control / Almost made it to heaven / It was closer than you know / Playing with the enemy / Gambling with my soul / It’s so hard to say no,” Lovato sings on the powerful track. Produced by Mitch Allan, the song takes on a soulful, jazz-like sound.
Dancing With The Devil, The Art of Starting Over is broken down into two sections, Prelude and The Art of Starting Over. “Dancing With The Devil” appears on the former, between opening track “Anyone” and “ICU (Madison’s Lullabye).”
“Dancing With The Devil” initially appeared in the trailer for the multi-platinum selling singer’s new documentary series of the same name. The series chronicles Lovato’s road to recovery following a near-fatal overdose in 2018. She has described the music on Dancing With The Devil, The Art of Starting Over as a type of soundtrack to the moments mentioned in the documentary.
The first two segments of the documentary, “losing control” and “5 minutes from death” premiered on YouTube last week. The third portion will be available on March 30 with the concluding episode premiering shortly after.
Speaking of the documentary, Lovato said: “What I want people to take away from the documentary is that…the most important thing you can do for yourself is to live the truth.”
Alongside the release of “Dancing With The Devil,” Lovato has shared a live acoustic performance of the song. Tracked with only a piano, her vocals soar throughout the emotional performance.

I recently listened to this album { Dancing With The Devil ] by Pop Music Artist Demi Lovato . The album is a ‘ Documentary ” about Lovato’s near death drug overdose and other personal struggles . Lovato is ‘ Extremely Honest ” in her entire Documentary. The album ‘ Failed to ‘ Play Smoothly ” from ‘ Start to Finish ” ( I found myself ‘ Lost ‘ listening to this album due to the facts of ( 1 ) The ‘ Extremely Long Length of the album & ( 2 ) The Same Song Sounds — ” Too Much ‘ Repetition ” & at times the album ” Drags ” — lacking ‘ Spice and ‘ Exciting Sound ” ) . I didn’t think that this album ‘ Matched Up ” to Lovato previous albums like ” Confident ‘ , ‘ Tell Me You Love Me ‘ — Etc,. However , in a ” Different Sense ” this album { Dancing With The Devil } is ‘ Sensational ” in its ‘ Different and Unique Manner ” . The album has several ‘ Sensational Pop Music Songs including : ” Carefully “, ‘ My Girlfriends Are My Boyfriends ” , ” Easy ” and ( My Personnel Album Favorite ) — ” Mad World ” . And it’s in songs like ” Mad World ‘ & ” Carefully ” that Pop Artist Lovato becomes ” Storyteller ” — telling us ‘ The Stories of Life ” . In this album Pop Music Artist Demi Lovato is ” Growing & Vastly Improving ” as a Pop Music Artist & Songwriter . The more I listen to this album { Dancing With The Devil } — ” The More I Like It ” !!
