Demi Lovato Shares Deluxe Edition Of ‘Dancing With The Devil… The Art Of Starting Over’
The deluxe edition features a new original song and three acoustic performances.
Demi Lovato has shared the deluxe edition of her latest album Dancing With The Devil… The Art Of Starting Over, originally released April 2 via Island Records. The extended edition features a new original song titled “Sunset” and three live acoustic performances.
The acoustic recordings include new renditions of “Anyone,” “Dancing With The Devil” and “ICU (Madison’s Lullabye).” The additional tracks bring the album’s tracklist total to 23 songs.
Dancing With The Devil… The Art Of Starting Over is Lovato’s seventh studio album and her first since 2017’s Tell Me You Love Me. Speaking of her past releases, she told The New York Times: “When I look back at music in the past that was more hesitant to be as open as I am today, I feel like I just robbed myself of vulnerability in some of those songs.”
This new release sees the multi-platinum selling musician at her most vulnerable as she recounts and contextualizes the major moments and revelations of her life over the past few years. The album was rolled out alongside the release of Lovato’s revealing YouTube documentary Dancing With The Devil. Across four episodes, the documentary series explores the aftermath of a near-fatal overdose Lovato experienced in 2018. Though the album itself explores different variations of this topic, almost like a soundtrack to those moments, it also lets listeners in on who Lovato is as an artist and person at this point in time.
Dancing With The Devil… The Art Of Starting Over features three major collaborations, all of which were recorded with female artists. “My Girlfriends Are My Boyfriend” finds Lovato teaming up with rapper Saweetie and “Easy” features Noah Cyrus. The standout pairing of the album comes with “Met Him Last Night,” the smooth R&B track recorded with Ariana Grande, who penned the track with collaborators Stanaj, Tommy Brown and Xavi.
Dancing With The Devil…The Art Of Starting Over (Deluxe Edition) is out now and can be bought here.
