“The Def Jam channel will be the culmination of a year of anniversary celebrations for the groundbreaking record label,” the imprint shared in a statement. “It also marks the first time a major UMG label will programme their own television channel directly for fans.”
In addition to being available on Tubi, the content will also be accessible to fans outside the U.S.: UK-based viewers can access the channel via Samsung TV+.
“Over the last 40 years, Def Jam has consistently led the charge in pioneering new ways for our artists to express their creativity and connect with fans,” Def Jam chairman and CEO Tunji Balogun added. “As we continue to evolve in the music landscape, we are excited to partner with Tubi in an effort to reach new audiences by embracing dynamic, innovative platforms.”
In addition to the new channel, Def Jam has also celebrated the big 40 with multiple other ventures. A special show on Apple TV collected some of the label’s most iconic tracks and music videos, while pop-up booths at Complex events in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, respectively, also invited fans to engage with the label’s legacy and history.
