Dawes Sign To Rounder, Preview New Album ‘Good Luck With Whatever’
The single “Who Do You Think You’re Talking To?” is now available to stream and download.
Much-admired Los Angeles folk-rock band Dawes have signed a new deal with Rounder Records. They’ve released the single “Who Do You Think You’re Talking To?,” now available to stream and download, with an accompanying video. The song will be on their seventh studio album Good Luck With Whatever, which will follow on October 2.
The full-length was produced by the always in-demand Dave Cobb, and features a new collection of music by the band who have been critical favorites since their first album North Hills in 2009. Dawes have had two No.1s on Billboard‘s folk albums chart, 2015’s All Your Favorite Bands and 2016’s We’re All Gonna Die. The 2015 set was also their highest-ranked to date on the all-genre Billboard 200, reaching No.37.
Goldsmith: “We’re able to lean on each other”
“In the past, I’ve definitely been more precious about the way I wanted the songs to sound, but that’s never as fun,” says Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith. “The music we make is everyone’s mode of expression, and the other guys all have chops that I don’t have and never will. The fact that we’re able to lean on each other and celebrate each other as individuals just makes us so much more excited about getting to play together in this band.”
Ahead of the new album, Dawes also recently released the 11-track Live From Richmond, VA as an exclusive digital download via Bandcamp. Sales from the record benefit Reform LA Jails and Black Lives Matter Los Angeles.
Good Luck With Whatever is released on October 2. Pre-order it here.
