Watch Glass Animals’ Dave Bayley’s ‘Quarantine Cover’ Of Lana Del Rey’s ‘Young And Beautiful’
Bayley kicked off his ‘Quarantine Covers’ series on 21 March with his version of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’.
Glass Animals frontman Dave Bayley has shared his cover version of Lana Del Rey’s ‘Young And Beautiful’, which originally appeared on The Great Gatsby soundtrack album in 2013. You can check it out below.
Bayley’s cover of ‘Young & Beautiful’ is the latest release in his ‘Quarantine Covers’ series, wherein the multi-instrumentalist records his own version of songs suggested by fans while he is self-isolating in his London studio due to the coronavirus crisis.
As he explains in the new video, Bayley is working with limited gear at the moment, as much of Glass Animals’ equipment is stuck in the United States after they were forced to head home mid-tour due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Bayley kicked off the ‘Quarantine Covers’ series last month, 21 March, performing a rendition of Nirvana’s ‘Heart-Shaped Box’ from their 1993 album, In Utero. As with the first video, Bayley records a layered composition in real time, slowly constructing his take of ‘Young And Beautiful’ through looped percussion and piano.
The Glass Animals frontman Bayley also shared high praise for Del Rey, saying, “I think this is one of the best songwriters of our time. She’s incredible, one of my heroes. I think she’s a brilliant songwriter. Big respect.”
Glass Animals recently shared new track ‘Your Love (Deja Vu)’, the second preview of their upcoming third studio album, following 2019’s comeback single ‘Tokyo Drifting’, which featured Denzel Curry.
Following its release, ‘Your Love (Déjà vu)’ climbed the Alternative and AAA Charts, currently sitting in the Top 20 at Alternative and at No.34 at AAA. ‘Your Love (Déjà vu)’ is also rising on Spotify’s US Viral 50 Chart. Inspired by the genre-jumping ambition of both Timbaland and The Neptunes, ‘Your Love (Déjà vu)’ was produced by Glass Animals frontman Dave Bayley.
“Glass Animals are back, and they’re bringing the dark side of love with them,” wrote Entertainment Weekly in response to the new single.
