The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, Greta Van Fleet Confirmed For Spain’s 2019 Mad Cool Festival
The 1975 and The National are among the big names already confirmed for the Madrid-based festival next year.
The Mad Cool Festival, based in Madrid, Spain announced a stellar line-up for their 2019 edition including The Cure, Bon Iver, The Smashing Pumpkins, Noel Gallagher and Greta Van Fleet as well as various improvements to the site and organisation.
Last year’s acclaimed event featured the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Queens Of The Stone Age, Jack White, Nine Inch Nails, Dua Lipa, Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam and many more.
As uDiscover Music previously reported, the 2019 edition of the Madrid bash is also set to welcome the likes of The 1975 and The National and today’s announcement also reveals that further big alt-rock names such as Teenage Fanclub, Mogwai and The Twilight Sad have also been added with plenty more acts to be announced in the months ahead.
After coming under fire from a number of acts last year, Mad Cool 2019 will be getting rid of the VIP areas in front of all stages. Other improvements include reducing the number of stages from seven to six, and decreasing the capacity by 5,000 per day. They also plan to have more toilets on site, as well as increasing the size and staffing of all bars.
“Mad cool is working closely with a prestigious and renowned company in order to ensure the adequate functioning of the technical network,” a spokesman said. “In addition to this, wristbands bought online will be delivered anywhere in the world.
“All ticket-holders (full festival ticket or a day ticket) are entitled to transport back to Madrid from the venue at Valdebebas, free of charge from 1.30am until 5.30am, aiming to minimise unnecessary waiting for any visitor.”
They continued: “In line with the new law for large events by Madrid’s City Council, Mad Cool is working on a specific mobility plan with the Transport Consortium and the General Mobility Directorate of Madrid City Council. They are also getting advice by a renowned and prestigious specialised Engineering Department.
“Improvement of the access road, hall, and all transit areas of the venue to make pedestrian crossing easier and more comfortable.”
Mad Cool Festival 2019 will take place in Madrid from 11-13 July. Visit the event’s official site for tickets and more information.
