Cuco Announces New EP ‘Hitchhiker,’ Shares ‘Planet Express’
The project will arrive on November 10 via Interscope Records.
Cuco has announced his forthcoming EP, Hitchhiker, due November 10 via Interscope Records. Alongside the announcement, Cuco shared the first taste of what the EP has to offer with his latest single, “Planet Express.” On the track, Cuco laments the toll of a long distance relationship.
The track is complimented with planetary idioms and musical production that embodies a feeling of floating through space. The single comes with a new Connor Clarke-directed video with animation by Parsa Mostaghim and Dan featuring Cuco moving across different landscapes reminiscing about his love.
The forthcoming EP came together after Cuco experienced an injury that forced him to reckon with his own mortality. Coming out of this experience Cuco struggled to grasp the overwhelming concept of the fragility of life. Traditionally he would have found solace by drowning his thoughts in a variety of substances, but instead he opted to cope by staying sober and creating a psychedelic creative universe all his own through new music. As a result his forthcoming project is a kaleidoscope of different influences and genres and his most mature work to date.
On October 19, Cuco will be embarking on a North American tour beginning in Miami, running through Atlanta, Houston, and more before concluding in his hometown of Los Angeles for a performance at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival.
Last month, Cuco shared another new single “Dime,” which features Los Angeles based sierreño group Conexión Divina. “Dime” sees Cuco pair his subtle production alongside the gentle harmonies of Conexión Divina.
Their collaboration gives a sweet timbre to the songs lyrics longing for lost love. Speaking on the track Cuco shares, “I had a blast working with Conexión Divina, I think the song is special and I hope everyone feels the same.” The release follows Cuco’s recent tracks, “Coastin’” feat. Alemán, that came alongside an accompanying music video directed by Bobby Astro, and his heartfelt rendition of Robert Carlos’ “Mi Querido, Mi Viejo, Mi Amigo.”
