Cruisin’ With Lynyrd Skynyrd & Southern Rock Greats
Many of the bands who created the original southern rock explosion will be performing next January in the 2018 edition of the Southern Rock Cruise, including a special appearance by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Atlanta Rhythm Section, 38 Special, the Outlaws, the Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet, Louisiana’s Le Roux and Wet Willie will all be playing, as will founding Allman Brothers Band drummer Jaimoe with his current group, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band. There’a also a Live At The Fillmore tribute to the Allmans themselves.
The cruise will also have the added attraction of a special headlining show by Skynyrd on its second day, on land, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. That event will offer a tailgating party with Jamaican barbecue, tropical cocktails and a reggae band. The ship for the voyage is the Royal Caribbean Brilliance of the Sea, which “combines sleek swiftness, panoramic vistas, and wide-open spaces. With acres of glass enclosing the nine-story central atrium, elevators facing the sea, and floor-to-ceiling windows throughout.”
“The ultimate tailgate at sea,” as it describes itself, runs from 20-25 January, 2018, embarking from Tampa, Florida. After its ten-hour stop In Montego Bay, it will dock in Georgetown, Grand Cayman for nine hours on 23 January, before returning to port in Tampa. During its time at sea, the excursion will also feature trivia contests, karaoke, movie screenings and pool parties.
