Circa Waves Make UK Top Ten
Liverpool rock quartet Circa Waves are today (Sunday) celebrating their debut in the top ten of the UK album chart. Their first long player ‘Young Chasers,’ released last Monday (March 30) by Virgin EMI, entered the Official Charts Company’s weekly sales survey tonight at No. 10.
The achievement comes only 16 months after the band released their first single, ‘Get Away’/’Good For Me’ as a limited edition on the Transgressive label. They built their reputation with numerous live performances during 2014, including at such festivals as Latitude, Glastonbury, T In The Park and Reading and Leeds. An EP, also called ‘Young Chasers,’ came out last June.
“Just found out that we have a top 10 record!!,” Circa Waves wrote on their Instagram account this evening. “Thank you so much to everyone that bought our album. We are genuinely overwhelmed by the support. You guys are awesome! Can’t wait to see you on tour.”
The band’s extensive UK tour starts in Newcastle this coming Wednesday (8), a nine-date itinerary that includes a Shepherds Bush Empire show in London on April 17. They then move into Europe with shows in half a dozen countries into May, with more UK shows following in July.
