Chase And Status Goes To Extremes In ‘When It Rains’ Video
The huge new single features vocals from rising rapper Backroad Gee
Chase & Status has shared a cinematic new video for its Backroad Gee collaboration, “When It Rains,” which was released last week (February 10).
The visuals star Jack McMullen, who appeared in the BBC drama Time, and follow him on a desperation-filled, action-packed morning through the streets of London.
Director Hector Dockrill explained about the video’s concept: “In our harsh reality where it often feels as though the world is against you, we wanted to make a film about just a really s__t morning. And as a gluttonous human, how far will you go to get what you want (a morning ciggie), and how one bad decision, leads to another, and that tunnel vision can spiral into chaos.
“Jack McCullen pulls off the role of a scumbag that only cares about himself, and I think we quickly learn, so does everyone else. No happy ending, no resolution, just a quick moment of madness full of adrenaline and somewhat humor. But yes, this is just a really s__t morning.”
“When It Rains” marks Chase & Status’ first release since its RTRN II JUNGLE album in 2019. That record topped the UK dance charts upon its release and secured the duo its fourth Top 20 placing on the Official UK Albums Chart, landing at No.12.
The electronic music pioneers will make a full return later this year and will headline Manchester’s Parklife Festival this June as part of its new era. Dates in London, Cardiff, and across Europe will also take place across the summer.
Celebrating over 15 years in the game this year, Chase & Status is a leading talent in the UK Electronic scene. It was the first UK electronic act to headline The O2 in London, has had over 1.4 billion streams, 2.3 million album sales, sold millions of tickets worldwide, was BRIT-nominated for Best Group, has headlined Glastonbury on the Other Stage, headlined Reading & Leeds and has collaborated with the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Rita Ora, Major Lazer, Nile Rogers, Slaves and many more.
