Charles Esten, Aka Deacon Claybourne, Heads To C2C
Charles Esten, known to all fans of the hit ABC TV series Nashville in the role of Deacon Claybourne, has been added to the bill on the Yamaha Music Stage at the Country to Country Festival at The 02 in London next March.
Esten had already been announced to play the CMA Songwriters Series that immediately precedes the main festival, on Thursday 10 March. Here, he will share songs and stories with fellow writers Shane McAnally, Lori McKenna, Ashley Monroe and Charlie Worsham. He now also becomes the final addition to the Yamaha bill, the additional stage inside the venue’s main arena.
The actor-singer’s burgeoning career in the US has seen him perform at the Grand Ole Opry and other celebrated Nashville institutions such as the Ryman Auditorium and the Bluebird Café. His lengthy TV resumé has included roles in NCIS: Los Angeles, NYPD Blue, ER, The Mentalist and many other series.
But the 50-year-old from Pittsburgh also has close connections to the UK: he made his stage debut playing Buddy Holly in the hit West End musical Buddy, in which role he performed both for The Queen at the Royal Variety Performance and the first President George Bush at the White House.
Esten has been extensively featured on all of the Nashville soundtrack albums, and released his first independent single, ‘Hot One,’ last summer.
