Carrie Underwood Wins Two CMT Awards To Take Her Total To 20

Carrie Underwood won two titles at the 2019 CMT Music Awards, held last night (Wednesday) at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and hosted by Little Big Town. Other victors included Kane Brown, the Zac Brown Band and Ashley McBryde.
The CMT show featured notable performances by Brett Young with Boyz II Men; Sheryl Crow with Maren Morris, singing ‘Prove You Wrong,’ just released with Stevie Nicks, preceded by Morris singing ‘Shade’; and returning country star Tanya Tucker, whose new Fantasy/Concord single ‘The Wheels Of Laredo’ came out yesterday.
Tucker took to the stage with Brandi Carlile, Trisha Yearwood, Raelynn, Martina McBride, Lauren Alaina, Deana Carter and Carly Pearce. They all helped her perform Tucker’s signature hit ‘Delta Dawn.’ Shooter Jennings, who has produced Tucker’s upcoming album While I’m Livin’ with Carlisle, played guitar.
Underwood won Video of the Year with ‘Cry Pretty’ and Female Video with ‘Love Wins.’ That took her total of CMT Awards to a record-breaking 20. She also sang ‘Southbound’ on the night. Kane Brown won the male award for the ‘Lose It’ video, while Dan + Shay won the duo category with ‘Speechless.’
The Zac Brown Band were victorious in the Group Video division with ‘Someone I Used To Know.’ The collaborative video of the year was ‘Coming Home’ by Keith Urban featuring Julia Michaels, who told ETonline that it was the first award she’d ever won. Urban was also on hand to perform his current single ‘We Were.’
CMT Performance of the Year was Luke Combs and Leon Bridges’ version of Combs”Beautiful Crazy’ smash from CMT Crossroads. McBryde took Breakthrough Video for the clip of ‘Girl Goin’ Nowhere’ filmed at her Marathon Music Works show in Nashville. Hosts Little Big Town, introduced by Darius Rucker, performed their own current release, ‘The Daughters.’
