Rising Canadian Country Talent Josh Ross Shares New Song ‘Ain’t The One’
Ross won the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award at the 2023 Canadian Country Music Awards.
Canadian country singer-songwriter Josh Ross has released the heartfelt new song “Ain’t The One,” as he continues to guest along with Brantley Gilbert on Nickelback’s Get Rollin’ Tour.
Ross wrote the track with Taylor Phillips, Jaxson Free, and Jon Kraft, and it was produced by his frequent collaborator, Matt Geroux. The song describes the pain of having to move on from true love, with an honest poignancy that complements the guitar melodies and country rock flavor.
The track arrives in the wake of Ross’ current single “Trouble” and the recent releases “Red Flags” and “Ain’t Doin’ Jack.” “My own relationships inspire my ideas,” says the Ontario native. “I feel most comfortable just being honest in the writing room with what I want to say. One of the hardest things about being in a relationship is sometimes knowing that the person is better off without you and this song is all about that. ‘Ain’t The One’ is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written.”
Ross was named one of Spotify’s Hot Country Artists To Watch for 2023, and has had two Top 5 Canadian radio hits with “Trouble” and “On A Different Night.” He also won the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award at the 2023 Canadian Country Music Awards, and made his Grand Ole Opry debut in July.
Next year, he will join fellow emerging country talent Bailey Zimmerman on the latter’s Religiously, The Tour, named after the album that Zimmerman released in May. Ross is also booked for Stagecoach next year. All of his touring dates and details are at JoshRossMusic.com.
Ross told Billboard that he has album plans for 2024. “We are planning out on some more singles, probably before the end of the year,” he said. “But I’ve also been working on a body of work that I, personally, feel like will help listeners get to understand me. But we are definitely working toward an album for next year, depending on where the songs land.”
