BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, And Billie Eilish Win Big At 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards
Nickelodeon’s long-running awards show also featured performances by Kid Cudi and Jack Harlow.
On Saturday night, Nickelodeon held its 35th annual Kids’ Choice Awards, which featured plenty of memorable music moments. Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish were among the evening’s biggest winners, with two awards each. Rodrigo won for Favorite Breakout Artist, as well as Favorite Female TV Star for her role in Disney’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
Eilish, meanwhile, took home awards for Favorite Album and Favorite Song for her latest LP, Happier Than Ever and its title track, respectively. The singer-songwriter, who previously won Favorite Song for her single “Bad Guy,” became one of only five musical acts to win twice in the category. Others who have reached this feat include Beyoncé, One Direction, Ariana Grande, and Avril Lavigne.
The awards show, which aired live from Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar, was hosted by iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove and NFL star Rob Gronkowski. Throughout the evening, audience members were treated to several musical performances, including those by Kid Cudi, who delivered a rousing set of “Stars in the Sky” and “Pursuit of Happiness,” and Jack Harlow, with a mashup of his hits, “Industry Baby,” “Nail Tech,” and “First Class.”
BTS also made a splash by winning Favorite Group for their third consecutive year. The immensely popular K-pop band, who join One Direction and Fifth Harmony as the only three-time recipients of the award, have also extended their Guinness World Record reign for the most Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards won by a music group.
Other Kids’ Choice Awards winners include Justin Bieber and The Kid LAROI, whose song “Stay” earned an award for Favorite Collaboration. Adele won for Favorite Global Music Star, Ariana Grande took home an award for Favorite Female Artist, and Ed Sheeran was named Favorite Male Artist of the year.
